Braid Review
I was searching for a puzzle game and stumbled upon this work.
I was worried that it would be like Mimizuku Circus where I had to find keys to progress through the stages, but I managed to clear it somehow.
Overall evaluation: +1 (Recommended!)
Overview
The most distinctive feature of this game is the ability to "rewind time", which is quite special.
The game successfully creates high-quality puzzles by utilizing this special feature.
By the way, the same creator also made The Witness, a game that is all about solving puzzles. I knew about this game first.
Good points
Above all, the quality of the puzzles is extremely high.
There are various gimmicks, and anyone would be impressed by at least one of them, thinking " This is really well-made ".
The game doesn't just rely on the "rewind time" operation, but also has a sense of humor and a willingness to make the game enjoyable.
Additionally, the world-building is well-done, utilizing resources effectively.
The BGM's tone is also great, and the way the background color and gimmicks change according to the operation is unique and creates a special atmosphere.
Furthermore, the game has a high degree of freedom in its progression, allowing players to tackle stages in any order they like, making it less frustrating.
Bad points
Sometimes, the game suddenly requires new operations or knowledge, which can be frustrating.
Although this doesn't happen often, it would be better if there were more guidance.
As it's a special puzzle game, it's unavoidable, but the volume is slightly small.
On the other hand, the quality of the puzzles is high, so it's a trade-off.
Notes
The game is quite difficult to understand in English, and the story has many interpretative elements that make it even more challenging.
If you're not confident, you can change the Steam settings to Japanese.
Conclusion
This is a game that allows you to enjoy high-quality puzzles with a unique operation.
If you're looking for a puzzle game, I recommend giving it a try.
